Exhibits
The Collection was originally started by Ed Landers, who ran the Carriage Shop located at 403 Bridge Street, here in Humboldt, and was continued by Art Elliot when he bought the property from Mr. Landers.
In July of 1991, the tags were sold at auction. They were purchased by John and Hazel Robb. Hazel was the daughter of Art Elliot.
In June of 2004, John and Hazel donated the collection to the Humboldt Historical Museum.
The oldest tag is a ceramic tag issued in Humboldt, Kansas, in the year 1912 - Kansas did not even begin issuing tags until 1913.
